It was a
mixture of curiosity, apprehension and anticipation that 7 of our Carers
decided to attend our first Life Coaching Course at the Brow House in
Fallowfield back in June, run by local Life Coach (and Carer herself),
Kathryn Ansley from Living Years Coaching. No one was quote
certain what to expect but most came along because they had recognised
themselves in the advert circulated by Manchester Carers Forum. As
one Carer recalls, "The flyer seemed to describe me exactly when it
asked 'Are you stuck in a rut?' so I decided to go along and see what it
was all about." |

Here are some
of the comments that carers made about there experience of the Living
Years Coaching 6 week course. |
| |
"I met several people who have experienced similar problems to myself.
It was very helpful to learn how to coach myself and other people and to
set myself goals and targets. I would recommend this course to any
carer." |
"It's done me
the world of good. A great personal experience. Go to one
and you won't be sorry." |
"It was good to meet other carers who share the same problems. We
exchanged information and worked out coping strategies together.
The course was well co-ordinated and Kathryn made us feel very welcome." |
"I have really
benefited from meeting lovely people, exchanging ideas and getting
support. Come along and take part! You can share some of
your worries but look forward positively to the future by setting some
goals." |
"It was an excellent move forward. A small group with a common
bond. It has been great to plan my life rather than letting life
just take over." |
"I seem to
have more energy and motivation and my problems seem more manageable.
I have made some great new friends. This has been by far the most
useful Carers' activity I have taken part in." |
